Getting a pink slipThe local economy in Northern Indiana, especially the RV manufacturers, are being greatly affected by the current gas prices. The Monaco Coach Corporation announced today that it is closing facilities in Nappanee, Elkhart and Warsaw Indiana. According to the local news station Channel 16 WNDU, “The shutdown will affect over 1,400 area employees, which is one-third of their entire workforce.”

The question that I have to ask is where will all the people that are getting laid off from local manufacturers find other jobs especially if all sectors of business are being affected by the current state of the U.S. economy and devaluation of the U.S. dollar? There are only so many pizza delivery jobs and McDonald’s positions to be had.
